SNGU One to Five

Chapter One

It has been six years since Emma saw Sean last. Jessica looks just like Sean. She has his eyes and smile with those dimples you just can’t get enough of. Their six year-old daughter Jessica occasionally asks her mom when her daddy is coming home. It tears Emma up inside knowing that she can’t answer that question truthfully. Instead she just smiles and tells her "soon". On the days her daughter asks that question, at night she cries herself to sleep while thinking of all the good times she and Sean had, and then how he randomly left without a full explanation.

Emma has a job at the Dot. She goes to Degrassi’s local college. While she is working at night her mom watches Jessica and while Emma is at school Jessica is in kindergarten.

Emma had just dropped off her daughter at her mom’s and then walked to the Dot. It was crazy. There were so many people there. Degrassi’s high school soccer team had just won the championship so everyone decided to go out to eat at the Dot. Luckily they weren’t sitting in her section of the restaurant. Instead she had a bunch of young couples. She went up to one of the tables to find a handsome looking man with some ‘bimbo’ as she would call it.

“May I take your order?” Emma asked. The couple wasn’t listening. Instead the ‘bimbo’ kept joking around telling the man to stop. “Sean stop it. We are in public and I don’t want to do this right now. Maybe later okay?” Christine said. As they focused their attention on the waiter to place their orders the man and Emma both jumped. “Sean what’s wrong hunny?” “Oh, nothing.” Emma’s eyes widened. Sean had some nerve coming back here after all these years. “May I take your order now?” She said in a rude manner. “Actually yeah you can. We are ready now,” Christine said. “I will have a cheeseburger and fries. What are you going to have Christine?” Sean asked. “I will just have a salad.” “Is that all?” Emma snapped. Christine just gave her a look. “That’s all.” Emma went to go place their orders.

“What’s her problem? She was being a little bitchy don’t you think?” Christine said. “What? Oh sure.” “Sean what’s wrong? Do you know her from somewhere?” “Uh yeah actually I do. We went out in high school.” Christine let out a sign. He was staring at her like he still liked her. “Do you still have feelings for her?” She asked. “What? No way. Don’t be serious.” “Sean you keep staring at her.” “Well I don’t have feelings for her okay. We went out in high school like I explained. It was not serious.” He lied. It was really serious. They had a child together. And they had a good thing going for them until he messed up.

Emma came back over to their table with their drinks. “Your food will be out in a minute,” She said then walked away. Sean just kept staring at her. Who knew after all these years he would find her again. She was probably still pissed at him. She had every right too. He abandoned her and their baby. A few minutes later Emma came over with their food. “Here is your food,” She said while eyeing Sean, giving him a cold stare.

After they were done with dinner Sean told Christine he wasn’t feeling too well. He told her that the rest of their plans would have to be cancelled for the night. She wasn’t too thrilled but she went back to her apartment. Truth was, Sean felt fine. Just seeing Emma made his feelings come back all over again. This time they were stronger. He waited till she got off from work so he could talk to her.

Emma left work pretty late and when she turned around she saw Sean. At first she ignored him but then he started walking towards her. “Em wait.” He said. “It’s Emma to you. What the hell could you possibly want now Sean?” She snapped. “I want to talk.” “Are you kidding me? It’s been six years. No phone call and no idea where you are or what you have been up too. But now you want to talk? Okay lets talk. Where should I start? Oh I know how about when you left I couldn’t pay the rent so I had to move in with my parents. I had to quit my other job because I didn’t have a car to get there because I couldn’t afford to pay the rent and the car bill. Oh and how about this, every once in a while my daughter asks me where her daddy is and when he is coming back. I have to lie to her. Do you know what that feels like, to have to lie to your daughter because you don’t know the answer?” “Your daughter? Emma it’s our daughter whether you like it or not,” He said. “No Sean. If she were your daughter you wouldn’t have left and been out of her life for six years. You didn’t even give me a full explanation for why you were leaving.” “I know and I’m sorry. It’s just-” “Don’t say sorry. You are always fucking sorry. Each time I end up forgiving you but not this time. I can’t. You left me and my daughter. Now you think that because you see me while you are on a date with some bimbo that I will let you back in my life. Well you are wrong.” She was so pissed at him. Then she walked off. He ran after her and grabbed her arm. Then he kissed her. She didn’t pull apart but when the kiss was over she slapped him hard and walked off. Sean screamed to her not caring who heard. “Emma Nelson I love you. I never meant to hurt you I just couldn’t handle being a dad at that point in time. I’m ready now. I want to be a part of our family again. You can’t do this to me.” It was no use. She wasn’t going to listen to him.

Chapter Two

Emma was up all night thinking. She loved Sean and really wanted him back and she never thought this day would come, but she wasn’t about to give into him that easily. She had an idea. Finally she feel asleep.

Since school was in it’s third semester the students had three weeks off. Normally that wouldn’t be the case but the teachers had to prepare their final exams and they were behind schedule a lot this year, so they needed all the time to prepare as they could get. Anyways, Emma woke up a little later than usual. She decided that the only way her plan was going to work was if she called Sean and told him she wanted to talk. He still had the same number as before.

“Hello?” Sean said. “It’s Emma. Come over.” Before he could say anything she hung up. Emma got ready into something sexy. This way Sean couldn’t resist her. About ten minutes later he came over.

“Emma what is it? Is something wrong? You called and then hung up.” “Yeah I know.” He was waiting for her to tell him why she called because the other night she was pissed at him. Today on the other hand, she seemed fine. Instead of telling him why she called she went up to him and kissed him. It didn’t last long but once it was over she pushed him down onto her bed and started kissing him more. Soon it turned into a make out session. Sean liked it. There was no way he was going to stop this. They continued to make out heavily for the next hour. Emma realized it was getting a little late and she stopped. She got off of Sean and told him he had to leave. He was lost. She invited him over and he figured something was wrong. It turns out she just wanted to make out with him. Then she tells him to leave. It didn’t make sense but he left anyway. After he left Emma called Jay. They had become pretty close since Sean left. Jay even came over to help witk Jessica when she was little. Emma told Jay what she was doing and how Sean just expected her to let him back into her life. She also told him that she had a plan but if it was going to work he would have to play along. He said it was fine.

Emma and Jay met at the Dot about a half an hour after she called him. They discussed what her plan was in full detail. Emma was going to play with Sean’s emotions. When they were alone together she would tease him and make out with him and when Emma was with Jay and Sean was around, she would be all over Jay making Sean jealous.

A week had past and her plan was working. She would end up calling Sean and telling him to come over so she could discuss things but instead she would end up making out with him. He didn’t care and went along with it. But at night when she was all over Jay he got really jealous. He knew she was up to something but he didn’t know what it was.

During one of their make out sessions Sean stopped Emma. “Emma what’s going on? You have been acting weird ever since I saw you at the Dot.” “Wouldn’t you like to know?” Yeah actually, I would like to know. So tell me.” He demanded. “Fine I guess I should tell you. Okay well put it this way, you left and I thought you would come back after a week or something but you didn’t. It took me so long to get that through my head. Everyone knew something was wrong but I would always hide it. Then I see you at the Dot on a date with some bimbo.” Emma laughed a little. “You are going to think I’m an idiot or a tease or something but it was only to get back at you. My plan was to invite you over and make out with you. You know, tease you. At night I would be all over Jay when you were around so I could get you jealous. It was working. It would still be working if I wasn’t telling you this right now.” Sean was shocked. “Emma, why?” “Sean you can’t be serious. I’m playing with your emotions. Making you feel like you made me feel. I would tease you then I would ignore you and be all over Jay.” “I don’t know what to say. What made you do this Em?” “Sean you hurt me yet again. I know you didn’t promise you wouldn’t this time but we had a family together. That meant so much to me. It still means a lot to me but that night I saw you for the first time in years all my feelings for you came rushing back. You were basically asking me to take you back. I wanted to so bad and I still do but I can’t, at least not yet. If I did then you would think that you can come and go when you please and I will just take you back and that’s not how it works.” Sean was speechless. “I know I hurt you but I couldn’t handle being a dad. I already told you that. I wasn’t ready for such a big responsibility.” “Sean I wasn’t either. I was eighteen but I learned to deal with it. You should have been able to deal with it too.” “I know and I don’t know what went wrong. I’m sorry okay.” “Sean, it’s not okay.” “Well can I at least see my daughter?” Emma was stunned. “She is at school right now but uh I guess you could come with me to pick her up.” “Okay. Lets go.” They went upstairs and walked to where Jessica went to school. The whole walk there was silent.

Jessica saw her mom and ran up to her. “Mommy, mommy, mommy.” Jessica jumped into her mom's arms. “Hey sweetie. How was school?” “It was good but I couldn’t wait till I came home. Do you know what day it is?” “No, why don’t you tell me.” “You always told me you didn’t know when daddy was coming home, but you said that if you ever came to school with a man that it would be him.” Emma was yet again stunned. She had forgotten that she told her that. “Oh sweetie. What makes you think he is your daddy?” Emma asked. It was but she didn’t know why she would think it is or why she even remembered her mom telling her that. “Well when I was running over here I saw him smile at you, a really big smile. Like this.” Jessica showed her mom and she laughed. “Well guess what?” “What?” “He is your daddy.” “Yeah thank you mommy.” Emma was puzzled. “For what?” “For bringing daddy home to me. I was getting worried that he wasn’t going to come to me.” Emma’s eyes started to water. She put her daughter down and Jessica ran into Sean, her dad. “Daddy, daddy. Where have you been? I missed you.” Sean looked at Emma. He didn’t know what to say. He figured Emma would either not tell Jessica about him or she would say a bunch of mean things about him. Apparently she didn’t. “I missed you too. I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. Don’t you worry.”

Chapter Three

Sean, Emma, and Jessica walked home together. Most of the time it was silent except for when Jessica asked Sean where he went. When she asked him that question Emma shot him an evil look, yet a sad one too. Sean on the other hand looked like he was going to cry. He realized right then that he was a bad father and he didn’t know what to tell his little girl when she asked where he was. Instead of answering the question he brought up a new subject. When they got back to Emma’s mom's, Jessica went next door to play with Angie and Sean decided to talk with Emma.

“Em, can we talk?” “About what now, Sean? We talked enough don’t you think?” She said in an angry tone. “Come on. Don’t be like that.” Emma shot him another evil glare. This time there was no hint of sadness. “Be like what Sean? Last I checked, I wasn’t the one who left for a new life because things were getting a little rough.” “You know I had no other choice.” “Who are you trying to fool Sean? You had a choice. Stay with me and help me raise our daughter or leave. You left to start a new life expecting to never see me again. And now that you have you want to get back into my life and Jessica’s. I’ll tell you something, that’s not going to happen.” “Emma why not? I love-” “Don’t say it Sean. Yeah we have had some good times since I saw you at the Dot but that doesn’t change the fact that you left me, us. You have no idea what I had to go through.” “You’re right. I don’t know what you had to go through but I am sorry. I know it must have been hard. Just understand, I never really had a father of my own. He was always drunk up until a few years ago and I didn’t exactly have a good role model to look up too. I was afraid that I was going to screw up again. Again Emma. I have screwed up so many times in my life without a child to worry about and then when I had a child to look out for I got scared. You always found a way to forgive me but if I screwed up with our baby she might hate me or something. Think I was a bad father. That would hurt me so much.” Sean was getting a little teary eyed but it was going to take a lot more than that for Emma to forgive him. “I know you were scared. I was too but I didn’t run away because of it.” Emma began to cry and laugh at the same time. “Sean I’ve never told anyone this but her first word was daddy. Her first sentence was where is daddy? I always told them she said mommy first because whenever I brought up you all I wanted to do was cry. You hurt me that bad.” Sean walked over to Emma and hugged her. “I know baby and I’m sorry.” They stayed hugging for a while until Emma leaned in and kissed him. It would have lasted longer but Jessica came in to the room they were talking in.

“Mommy, mommy.” Sean and Emma quickly pulled apart. “Mommy does this mean we can be a family now? I’ve always wanted a daddy and now I have one,” She said with a big smile on her face. All Emma could do was laugh and cry. Emma walked over to her daughter, their daughter, and picked her up. Then she walked over to Sean and they had a family hug. “Daddy I missed you.” “I missed you too baby.” That was the truth. For the first two years after he had left all he could think about while he was trying to sleep or when he saw young mothers and their little girls in the park, was Emma and Jessica. Sometimes he even cried while he was alone because he knew he hurt them so much. He was going to go back to Emma one night after he cried for hours but then he met Christine. Things went well for them and they were going great until Sean and Emma met again.

Sean said he had to go get something so he left. He knew Emma was still a little mad at him but he knew something he could do to make her forgive him for good. All he had to do was get lots of roses, make reservations for a nice restaurant, book a hotel room for the night, and inform her parents of what he was doing. While he was on his way to go get something at a store he called Emma’s mom and told her everything he planned on doing. Emma’s mom was so happy. She knew one day this was going to happen, she just didn’t know when. She told Sean she would tell Spike, that way Sean wouldn’t have to call him as well.

Chapter Four

Sean was done with his errands that would make this night special; the only thing he had to do was call Emma. He called her and told her to wear something fancy because he was taking her out to dinner. Well more than dinner but she didn’t know that. Emma was completely clueless. She figured it was going to be a really expensive dinner that he was hoping would make up for everything but Emma didn’t think that would do the trick. It was six thirty and Sean was coming to pick her up at six forty five. She heard a beep outside and looked out the window. She gasped when she saw a black stretch limo outside of her house. It couldn’t be for herm she thought. Sean said quarter of seven. It was too early. The limo driver went up to the door and knocked. He waited for Emma to answer and then told her that he was going to escort her to the limo. All the way there she had this huge smile on her face. She was expecting Sean to be in the back waiting for her but he wasn’t. The driver said it was a surprise, but that he was at the restaurant waiting for her. She was so excited. Maybe this might change her mind after all. Once they got to the restaurant the man escorted her to where Sean was. There were a lot of people in the section they were in but their table stood out the most. It had a red table cloth over it with rose petals scattered everywhere. What surprised her most was that Sean was dressed up nicely. Normally he wouldn’t bother with a fancy dinner, nor would he dress up so she figured tonight was going to be special.

“Wow Sean. This is amazing. But you didn’t have to.” “You’re right I didn’t have to but I wanted too. Besides, it is perfect for what will be happening tonight.” Emma looked confused. “What’s happening tonight?” “Well I can’t tell you otherwise it wouldn’t be a surprise. Now lets get settled and order our dinner.” Emma sat down across from Sean and then ordered dinner. Once they were done with dinner he insisted she order desert. His guess was right; she ordered exactly what he thought she would. There was going to be a surprise in her desert. “Sean, why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?” “No. I’m just looking at you because you’re beautiful. Now eat up.” She did as she was told. She bit into her desert and found something hard. She took it out of her mouth and cleaned it off. It was a diamond ring. “Sean I think the waiter gave us the wrong desert or something.” “Why do you say that?” “Uh because there is a diamond ring in mine.” “Give me that,” He said. Sean got down on one knee and Emma started to cry. Everyone in the restaurant stopped what they were doing and watched as Sean proposed. “Emma Nelson, I love you with all my heart. Will you marry me?” Awwww the look on Emma’s face when he said that was pure happiness. She had never been this happy, ever. Emma didn’t answer for a minute because she was getting her thoughts together. Then she finally answered him. “Yes, Sean Cameron I will marry you.” Everyone around them started clapping and Emma began to cry even harder.

After dinner Emma thought they would be going home but they went right past her house. “Sean, where are we going? We just passed my house. I want to tell my parents.” “I already told them and they know where we are going.” Emma couldn’t help but smile. She didn’t think there was anything else that could make this night perfect but she was wrong. The ride to the hotel was a little over an hour but it was worth it. They arrived at one of the finest hotels in the area. When they got in their room there was two beds with red sheets, pillows, and blankets with white and pink rose petals all over the room. Emma gasped again. This night was getting better and better. She just didn’t understand one thing. “Sean why are there two beds?” “Um well you get one and I get one. Very simple.” Emma couldn’t help but laugh. She walked up to him and gave him a long kiss. In between breaths she said, “What if I don’t want my own bed?” Sean answered her but also in between breaths. “What are you saying? You want to sleep with me?” She stopped kissing him and playfully slapped his arm. “You wish I did.” Then she laughed. Truth was, she really did want to sleep with him. They only had one other time and that’s how she got pregnant with Jessica. Instead of telling him what she wanted she took off their jackets and pushed him down hard on the bed. She started kissing him very intensely. Sean didn’t mind. Instead he just kept kissing her and then eventually before either of them knew it, their clothes were off and once again they were having sex.

The next morning Emma woke up to find Sean gone. By his pillow she found a note with a rose.

Emma Nelson, I love you with all my heart. I am so happy you said yes.

I am officially the happiest man a live, no joke. Now we can actually have a
family of our own, and we can really call it a family. No worries, hate to bring
this up, but I will never, ever leave you and our family again. I truly mean it
and I hope you believe me. Anyway, I had to go out to get something so I will
be back soon. Don’t eat anything. Just stay in bed until I get back. Love you.

Sean

Emma couldn’t help but smile. Just then Sean came into the room. He walked over to Emma and gave her a bouquet of roses. There were at least twenty of them. All different colors, some red, some pink, and some white. Then he went back outside to wheel in a cart. The kitchen staff let him cook Emma breakfast because they knew what it was for and thought it was sweet. Sean brought over a plate for him and one for Emma. It was chocolate chip pancakes with a little whipped cream and a rose on the top. Geese, Sean must love this rose idea. Emma though. She quickly kissed him and then ate her breakfast.

Chapter Five

It’s about one and a half months later. Emma was throwing up in the morning constantly. The weird thing was that she felt fine, just occasionally in the mornings she would get sick. One day in the morning while she was going through one of her drawers she found her calendar. It was what she used to see when she was getting her period. She looked at it for a moment and realized she hadn’t gotten it in over a month. She started to panic. Last time she was pregnant with a baby Sean ditched her. This time they were supposed to get married. Aw man, this is going to mess up everything again. She thought to herself. Then she heard a knock on her door. She told whoever it was to come in. It was Sean.

“Em, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” “Sean I’m pregnant again. I don’t want to be.” “Emma don’t worry. It’s fine. I want another baby in our lives.” “Sure you do. You said that last time and then you left. Another baby is just going to make you leave again. I can’t handle that and I don’t think Jessica could either.” Now Emma was crying. Sean hugged her. “Shh Emma, it’s okay. I won’t leave this time. I swear.” “Sean I know you. You will leave.” He let go of her so they weren’t hugging anymore. “How can you say that? I won’t leave. I promise you that. And I will keep my promise. I have made mistakes before and leaving you was one of the biggest ones I have ever made. There is no chance in hell that I am going to do that again. I had nightmares of you and Jessica getting hurt or maybe even worse because I left and wasn’t there to protect you. Another baby is going to make me want to stay even more. I love you. You could have ten more babies and I wouldn’t leave.” Emma laughed. “Well maybe not ten more but do you see my point? I’m not going to leave. Not now, not ever.” Emma looked at Sean. She stared right into his eyes, almost like she was reaching his soul. Then she kissed him. Emma fell back onto the bed. They made out for about an hour, and then Sean tried to unbutton her pants. He wanted to go further. Emma stopped him only to get up and lock her door so no one would come in. They continued to make out for a few minutes to get that feeling back and just when they were about to have sex again there was a knock on her basement window. They both shot up. She went to the window and let whoever was there in. It was Jay.

“Oh, sorry, was I interrupting something?” He asked. “Uh no, not really. What do you want?” Emma hissed. “Well I wanted to congratulate you on the news. Everyone knows you two are getting married.” Emma was surprised. She turned to Sean. “Sean, how many people did you tell?” “Your mom and she called Simpson. That’s it.” She turned back to Jay. “Jay who told you?” “Oh everyone knows Emma give it up already. It’s not like it’s some big secret you two have.” “Still, it’s none of your business.” “Sean is my best friend and Emma you’re my friend so I am making it my business.” Then he winked at Emma before climbing out the window to leave.

“What was that about?” Sean asked. “What do you mean? You heard him. He wanted to congratulate us.” “No Em, I meant the wink.” “Oh? I didn’t notice.” “Emma come on. I know you saw it. Is there something going on between you two that I should know about?” “Not really. When he helped me make you jealous we kind of well, we had sex. We were both drunk and thought it would be best to never mention it again.” Sean’s jaw dropped. “You and Jay, you had sex?” “Yes Sean. Why is that so hard to believe?” “Because it’s you Emma. I love you and while you were trying to make me jealous you slept with my best friend.” “I know and I’m sorry. But if it matters, it meant nothing. I’m with you and that’s all I want. I love you. Can we just drop this please?” “Yeah, but only after I find out if you and Jay have feelings for each other.” “Sean I can’t believe you are asking me that. If we didn’t know each other it would have been a one night stand type of thing. One night stands kind of mean that you don’t have feelings for them. You should know, you’ve had enough of them.” “What? Who said that?” “No one.” “Then why say it? It’s not true. Okay, now I really want to drop this. Can we go back to what we were doing?” Sean said. Then before she could answer he walked over to her and took her shirt off then starting kissing her. Again, they had sex.

It was getting late in the afternoon. After they had sex they just went to sleep for a few hours. Emma was the first to wake up. She got up quietly and went to her closet to get some clothes. Then she went upstairs to take a shower. When she came back down Sean was still sleeping. He looks so cute while he is sleeping Emma thought. She bent down to give him a kiss but then he woke up.

“Oh, trying to kiss me while I’m asleep are we?” He said jokingly. “Ha. Yeah, definitely. Go take a shower. You smell like sex and I don’t want my daughter or my parents thinking anything went on.” “Sure whatever you say Em. Just one problem, I don’t have any clothes. Well any that are clean.” “Hm then I will go to your house to get you some. It’s just down the street.” “Okay. So I’ll go take a shower and wait for you to bring my clothes okay?” “Yeah.” Then she went upstairs to get her keys and drove to Sean’s to get him some extra clothes.

When she got out of her car she saw someone else’s car there. It was Jay’s. Just what she needed right now. Of all things to happen right now, she had to bump into him.

“Well Emma Nelson. May I ask what you are doing here?” “Um Jay if you hadn’t noticed, you interrupted Sean and I and now he needs some clothes so could you move so I can get in the door?” Jay wouldn’t move. “No Emma, I think we should talk.” “About what now?” “Well you know that little one night stand we had. I was thinking we could have another one. This take make it more, hot and heavy?” “Ugh. Jay you disgust me. You know that meant nothing. Besides, you’re Sean’s best friend. What would he say if he hears that you are hitting on me and trying to get into my pants again?” Jay just started cracking up. “What the hell is so funny?” “Emma you are, just wow. I was just testing you. Cameron is my man and I don’t want him to be getting married to you if you are going to cheat on him, which you didn’t. Don’t worry about it. It was a joke.” Emma just smiled. “Jay I’m going to kill you. Get over here.” Emma was chasing after Jay and ended up in Sean’s backyard. Emma finally caught up to him when Jay stopped and Emma fell into him. He kissed her. Emma pulled back. “Jay I can’t and I don’t want too. I love Sean remember. That thing we had didn’t mean anything.” “I know, I know, but I don’t know what it is. I want you so bad Emma.” She stepped back. “Jay I don’t like you like that okay? Just stay away from me if you are going to keep doing that. It’s not right. You are his best friend and I am his soon to be wife.” “Em, I know but I can’t help it.” She kept taking steps back until she fell. “Jay just don’t okay. I’m pregnant with Sean’s baby, again. I’m afraid that he will run off again like he did last time. He promised he wouldn’t and he promised he wouldn’t break his promise, if that makes sense? Anyway, you were there for me when I needed you. I still need you, just this time it’s as a friend to help and support me. Who knows, if Sean runs off again I will go back to you. You were so good to me and Jessica. Almost like a second dad. But just listen to me, I love you like a brother, nothing more. I know it’s hard to accept that but please just don’t do anything again. Don’t try to kiss me, don’t try to corner me, don’t try to make people think I’m cheating on Sean with you, just don’t do anything that will make me feel guilty and Sean jealous and upset.” Then she walked into Sean’s house to get his clothes and quickly left. Jay was still standing there when she left. He knew everything she said was right and he was going to try and stop doing what he was doing. Cameron was his best friend and Emma was like a sister to him, not to mention she was getting married to his best friend. He did love Emma but it wasn’t the kind of love Sean and Emma had for each other. It was nowhere near that. That’s when he knew that eventually he would get over her. From that day forward he didn’t do anything or say anything to Emma that would make her think he was hitting on her or anything.
